FAQ
How do I know which system is right for me?

The type of system is based on an evaluation of each separate structure. Considerations include: construction design, size of the environment that is being addressed, conditions that are present and conditions that could develop in the future.

How are your systems sold?

Most Mold Sentry systems are sold directly to the consumer by authorized Mold Sentry dealer and distributors.

How much does the system cost?

The base cost of the Mold Sentry residential system starts at $2,950. This cost can vary based on structure and installation factors. An exact cost is provided once an evaluation and inspection has been performed.

How effective is germicidal lighting?

UVC germicidal lighting has been proven to be very effective for destroying contaminants and mold. Click here for more details on germicidal lighting. UVC germicidal treatment has been used in a wide variety of applications, from tuberculosis clinics to surgical sterilization and other fields.

Why is it so important to use UVC and dehumidification together?

Mold needs moisture to grow and spread. By controlling humidity (dehumidification) you control the growth of mold. UVC has been proven to destroy the DNA structure of an airborne viable growing spore, making it a non-viable dead floating particle. This particle, however, is still toxic to the human body, and our system helps to remove the particles from the air. This lowers the total fungal counts to help make your air cleaner to breath.

Why is your system a stand-alone unit?

The function and methodology of the Mold Sentry system is vastly different from the purpose of an HVAC system. It is impracticable to incorporate any air-handling system that uses reverse convection technology into a normal HVAC system. Your HVAC system acts as a means to distribute airborne pollutants and contaminants into your living area. The Mold Sentry system is designed to cleanse and purify the air that your HVAC system distributes.

Does your company offer financing?

Yes. We work with many financial institutions, and we can help arrange attractive, affordable financing options.

How is your system better than ozone generators, HEPA filters, Ionic Breeze, etc.?

The Mold Sentry system provides a permanent solution by addressing the problems at the source. Other products on the market either focus on after-the-fact situations or conditions that are usually signs or symptoms.
Click here for information on ozone generators.

What are the dimensions of the system?

The Mold Sentry system is 24 inches wide, 14 inches tall and between 4 and 6 feet long, depending on the type of system that is to be installed. The approximate weight of the system is between 75 and 125 lbs.

How long will it take to install the system?

The average installation time is five hours. The system is usually installed by a two-man crew.

How much electricity does the system use?

Utility usage is based on the amount of time the system is operating. The system normally runs more when it is first installed. Once the environment has been stabilized, the dehumidifier will cycle, and the fan and lights will cycle. Utility costs average between $10 and $25 per month depending on the humidity levels. The system usage is minimal when compared to the consumption of a large dehumidifier. In certain situations we have found that the Mold Sentry system actually saves money on heating and air conditioning costs.

What is the warranty?

The warranty is five years on the major components and one year on the serviceable parts. A renewable service maintenance contract is available to maintain optimum performance. Click here for full warranty details.

Do you offer service contracts?

Yes. The contract covers the service after one year.

Is the warranty/service contract transferable?

Yes, at no charge to you.

If I sell my home, does the system go or stay?

The system is designed for that particular structure. It is a permanent fixture just like the other mechanicals that are in a home.

Can you help if I find mold?

Yes. We can offer education and referrals that allow you to address and understand the causes, effects and solutions that help you protect your family and property.

Can you help me determine construction faults that are issues?

Yes. That will be addressed as part of the follow-up after the installation.

How often do I need to change the HEPA filter?

Normally the HEPA filters will need to be changed within one to two weeks after the initial installation. Once the environment has been stabilized, the HEPA filter will normally need to be changed every six months. Your service panel will indicate if and when the HEPA filter needs to be inspected and/or changed.
